March 18, 2013 Ancient Greek Vocab

Happy Monday!  Today in class we finished up our Greek mythology plays.  I will get them posted as soon as I figure out the best way to share them....

We signed up for this trimester's current events presentations.  The final ones for the year!  Due dates for everyone's presentations are on the calendar below.  The link to the template can be found to the right under helpful links and can also be found in your drive.  DON'T FORGET: The article summary needs to be in your own words and 5-7 sentences long and your personal reaction section should be 5-7 sentences long.  Also, fill in the template completely and use your creativity with presentations!

After signing up we reviewed vocabulary for Ancient Greece.  Some of it we had seen already and some of it was new.  The words are below:

  • Peninsula: An area of land almost completely surrounded by water and connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of land
  • Acropolis: The fortified, or strengthened, hill of an ancient Greek city
  • Aristocrat: A member of a rich and powerful family
  • Tyrant: A ruler who takes power by force
  • Democracy: A form of government in which citizens govern themselves
Vocab sheets are due tomorrow with the above words!
